Glucose
is a form of sugar that is formed in the body during digestion
of certain foods, especially starch and other carbohydrates.
It is carried through the blood and delivered to cells throughout
the body, where it provides a primary energy source. Excess
glucose may be converted to fat and stored in the body. Diabetes
is a condition in which the body is unable to use glucose
efficiently, due to a lack of insulin,
a hormone needed to allow glucose
to enter cells.
